EP. 2: Ritm / Rhythm (RO/EN)

Hello everyone, I'm Nephew. Today we'll find out what the first step is in the path to developing any talent.

Even though sleep is important, you do that whether you want to or not.

Here you're right, Grandpa. Sleeping is like a talent. You need to work on it constantly. But the most important thing about talent is RHYTHM.

Rhythm is what ties everything in the universe together. Rhythm is that one repeating note you need to feel.

Exactly, Grandpa. Everything has rhythm! The repetition of a sound is rhythm. Ticking clocks, heartbeats, breathing, footsteps, waves, the wind, musical notes. Everything follows a path, a pattern that repeats. Like day and night, sleeping and waking, eating and playing.

So, in any field, rhythm is the thing that if you get it right, it helps you progress. It is the thing that you need to discover. And to develop it, you need to understand it.

In every sport it's right - left, then accelerate and keep that rhythm. It's start, run, or swim, or serve, then finish line. And then again. In every field, it is the same. Same goes for 3D animation. Even in school it is the same. You just need to understand what the question asks, know the formula and apply it to the situation. I'll come back in a future episode to give examples of how easy it is with any school assignments, once you've found your rhythm.

Let's take for example Yoohpey World. I chose the square, or rather, the cube. The simplest shape. And then I kept my rhythm. I repeated the pattern, followed the path.

In Yoohpey World, people and animals take the form of a cube. The objects in the game are cubes. The writing in The Book of Yoohpey is made of squares. The food is square. The poems have equal rhythm; and when all the sides of a shape are equal in length, it is a square. Everything is a square or cube. Almost, because the corners are rounded.

In 3D animation, that's what you start with. Choosing a shape for your model. And the cube is the base shape, but you can choose any shape you want. Take a piece of paper and draw until you like what you're seeing. Be creative! Look around you, find inspiration.

Well yes. You need to be yourself in whatever you do! Leave your mark! So, dear reader, start writing, or drawing, and have fun with it! Then you will find what you're looking for. Keep that rhythm.

If you're playing sports, remember that rhythm. If you're eating, chew carefully. When you cross the street, be cautious. When you step off the sidewalk, be cautious! When you're on the crosswalk, be cautious! When you get on the other sidewalk, be cautious! If you pay caution to that rhythm, you'll be able to keep it going!
